IPTV Setup Guide for Beginners — Layerseven TV

By the Layerseven TV team — Updated April 30, 2026 · 8 min read

You've heard about IPTV from a friend or a Reddit thread, and now you want to set it up at home. This is the no-jargon walkthrough — from picking a plan to streaming your first channel — written for absolute beginners. If you've ever installed an app on your phone, you can do this.

Step 1 — Pick a plan

Step 1: Pick a Layerseven TV plan

Head to the pricing page. Use the connection switcher to pick how many devices you want to stream from at the same time. A "connection" = one device streaming live. For most households:

Then pick a duration: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. Longer plans are cheaper per month. Click "Choose Plan" on the card you want.

Step 2 — Get your activation code

Step 2: Receive Layerseven TV activation code by email

You'll be redirected to a secure checkout page. Fill in:

Submit the form. You'll receive a Stripe payment link in your email within 60 seconds. Click it, complete payment, and within minutes a second email arrives with your activation code and a link to the Catchon TV app installer.

Check your spam folder if you don't see it after 5 minutes. The code looks like a long string of letters and numbers — don't share it with anyone.

Step 3 — Install the Catchon TV app

Step 3: Install the Catchon TV app and start watching

The Catchon TV app is what plays your subscription. Where you install it depends on your device:

Firestick / Fire TV (recommended)

  1. From the Firestick home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and turn ON "Apps from Unknown Sources".
  2. Search for "Downloader" in the search bar, install the Downloader app, and open it.
  3. In Downloader's URL field, enter the link from your welcome email and press Go.
  4. The Catchon TV APK downloads. Click Install when prompted.
  5. Open the app, paste your activation code, and you're streaming.

Android TV / Android phone or tablet

  1. Open the welcome email on your device.
  2. Tap the APK download link.
  3. Allow installation from your browser if prompted.
  4. Open Catchon TV, paste the activation code.

Smart TV (Samsung / LG)

The Catchon TV app is Android-only — Samsung and LG don't run Android. The simplest fix: buy a $40 Firestick, plug it into your TV's HDMI port, and follow the Firestick steps above. Full instructions on our app install page.

iPhone / iPad / Mac

Catchon TV doesn't have a native iOS or macOS app yet. We recommend GSE Smart IPTV or Smarters Player Lite — install from the App Store, then enter your activation details manually. Email help@catchontv1.email and we'll send the M3U URL formatted for those players.

Step 4 — Browse channels

Once activated, the Catchon TV app loads your full channel lineup. Use the EPG (electronic program guide) to see what's playing now and next. Categories include Sports, Movies, News, Kids, USA, Canada, UK, International, and Pay-Per-View. The full lineup is on our channels page.

Common beginner problems & fixes

"My code says invalid"

Copy-paste it directly from the email, don't retype. Codes are case-sensitive and easy to mistype with similar-looking characters (0/O, 1/l).

"The app keeps buffering"

Check your internet speed at fast.com — you need 25 Mbps for HD or 50 Mbps for 4K, per concurrent stream. If your speed is fine, switch from Wi-Fi to ethernet on your Firestick, or move closer to the router.

"I can't find my channel"

Use the search function inside the Catchon TV app — type the network name (e.g. "ESPN") and all matching feeds appear. Some channels may be in the "USA" or specific country category.

"I want to cancel"

You can cancel any time. Within the first 7 days you're eligible for a refund per our refund policy. Email help@catchontv1.email with your order number.
